About Don Wass

Don has been an artist most of his life. His work has been shown in galleries in Connecticut, New England, and New York City, and his pieces hang in private and corporate collections around the country. His artwork includes acrylic, oil, and encaustic paintings; drawings; monoprints; compositions with stone and canvas or paper; computer animation; and photography. He is equally accomplished in abstract work and figure studies and often combines the two disciplines in his pieces. For Crystal Productions, he animated a children’s video and illustrated the companion book about Matisse, and created award-winning instructional videos about teaching computer animation in the classroom. He is also currently doing free-lance animation for private companies. You can view his recent work at Behance.net/donwass and see more at donwass.com.

Don has a BFA and an MAEd from Hartford Art School. He taught painting, drawing, jewelry, printmaking, and art theory for more than 40 years at Northwestern Regional School #7, and he developed one of the first high school computer animation programs in the country in 1987. His students won many state, national, and international awards, both in traditional art and computer animation. Don also established and taught a computer animation program at Northwestern CT Community College. Don has been an Adobe Master Teacher and was one of the original Adobe Education Leaders.

Don is an avid skier and sailor. He and his wife live aboard their sailboat most of the summer on the coast of Maine.
